Shopping for Plants
This weekend is the big, 60th annual arts festival at Tinicum Park in Erwinna, Pennsylvania. A popular event with arts and crafts and food and more - including a plant sale organized by the Tohickon Garden Club. Members dig, pot, label, and donate plants from their own gardens. And additional plants are purchased for the event from local vendors.
A handful of us gather at a nursery to cherry-pick the best looking plants.
Flowers are a plus, to attract the attention of visitors to the festival.
Joan reaches in to get the best, not merely the most convenient specimen.
As the carts fill, we also find plants of special interest that pique our attention.
Good looking cart filled with pink and red astilbe, and some platycodon in blue and pink.
Carts lined up under the shade cloth, ready to be totaled - and paid for.
A pickup truck full of plants for the sale:shrubs and perennials such as
daylilies, conifers, and beautiful lacecap hydrangeas. It's a fun event.
